September 9, 1948 to July 5, 2020- Carl Wayne Atkins, age 71, passed away at home in Gresham surrounded by his family on Sunday July 5th 2020.

He was born on September 9, 1948 in Honolulu Hawaii to

James and Pearl Atkins where he and his twin brother were the first set of twins to be born at Tripler Hospital. Being a part of a military family he lived in various places throughout his life, with his most memorable early years in

Kaiserslautern, Germany.

After returning to the states he graduated from

High School in Lawton, Oklahoma. After graduating

Oregon State University with a zoology degree, he

enlisted in the Navy where he was working as part of

the anti-submarine tracking and air sea rescue team.

Post-service, he returned to school earning his Masters

in Accounting.

On March 21, 1975 he married the love of his life

Melva Jean Ellison, and together they had two sons.

During his professional career he held positions as

a controller and chief financial officer for various

companies and in 1995 he opened his own CPA

practice, which continued even after retirement. While

raising his children and working he was a contributor

to his community being a part of the Chamber of

Commerce and Boy scouts of America.

During his retirement he became very involved in

the classic car community and veterans affairs. Many

of his loves in life included: wood working, classic cars,

fishing, ship building and traveling.

We will all remember him as an amazing husband,

father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by wife

Melva of 45 years, his two sons Chris and Brian,

daughter-in-law Silvia and his two grandchildren Luke

and Addyson Atkins.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 21,

2020 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home at 12 noon. A

procession to Willamette Cemetery will follow. There

will be a celebration of life reception at the family

home following the services.
