February 24, 1932 to July 10, 2020- Norma Jean (Martin) Stoney, 88, of Troutdale Oregon, was born in KIngsville, Texas, to Carl D. Martin and Amanda (Lamb) Martin.

from the historic Solomon Cole High School in

Corpus Christi, Texas.

Norma was employed as a Registered Nurse at

Memorial hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. As an

RN, she also served as a lead surgical nurse with Dr.

Williams Dentistry. She served as a teacher assistant

at West Oso High School, where she advocated for

students and prepared them for success. While she

served as a teacher assistant, she was embarking on

a different career in upholstery. She never viewed

herself as a woman who wanted to slow down, upon

her move to Oregon, she decided that she needed to

be active and return to the workforce. She returned to

school to become a cosmetologist, where she worked

as a hairstylist in downtown Gresham, Oregon.

She married Alonzo Stoney, December 31, 1952,

in Corpus Christi, Texas. A long time Texas resident,

the family moved to Oregon and resided in Troutdale

over 42 years. She was an active church member at

St. Mark Methodist Church in Corpus Christi, TX,

and transferred her membership to Mill Park Baptist

Church in Portland, OR. Norma was loved by her

friends and will be missed.

She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Stoney,

Troutdale, OR, Donna Stoney, Wood Village, OR,

BeEtta Stoney & Michael Romaniszyn (son-in-law),

Manhattan, KS; sons Don Stoney, Corpus Christi, TX,

and Seth Stoney, Westminster, CA; Beverly Dixon-

Stoney (daughter-in-law) Corpus Christi, Texas;

17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and

seven great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces

and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her

partner of life/our father, Alonzo, daughter, Cheryl,

sons Gerald and most recently, Lawrence; father Carl

D. Martin, mother, Amanda (Lamb) Martin, brother,

Carl, Jr., sisters, Pearlie B, Vivian, and Mable, and

great-granddaughter Dataria Alexis Wade. She was

the last survivor of the Martin generation.

Visitation hours are scheduled from 11 am-5 pm,

Thursday, July 23rd, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home

at 520 West Powell Blvd. Gresham, Oregon 97030.

Her memorial service is at 11:00 am on July 24, at

Bateman Carroll Funeral Home. Interment Forest

Lawn, Gresham, Oregon, Friday, July 24, at 1:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the

Alzheimer's Association.
