SUBMITTED PHOTO - Ronald P. WaltonRon and his twin brother Don were born in Hand County (Miller) South Dakota. Their childhood was divided between South Dakota, Portland, OR and Long Beach, CA. Ron enlisted in the US Army as a teenager. A portion of his service was spent in Germany and he enjoyed recalling the time he spent there, including a few "fish tales". Ron spent over 40 years as a truck driver hauling heavy equipment and ran his own truck business for several years. He ended his career driving for Unified Grocers, retiring in 1994. After retirement he continued to work part time jobs to remain active. In retirement Ron made several trips back to his beloved South Dakota to spend time with family. He was a dedicated San Francisco 49er fan, as he would tell you, since 1955 (never wavering in the not so good years). He loved to travel (drive not fly) and was a car enthusiast, spending many hours working on his cars (maintaining or rebuilding). Ron is preceded in death by his mother, Edith Walton, father and step-mother Martin and Lorraine Walton, brother Don, daughter Cindy and son Tim. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Nancy, brother Darnell "Bub", children Julie (Tracy), Rick (Denise), Kelly, Kristy and Karla (Gene), 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Ron loved his big extensive family and was a dedicated dad and Papa. We all miss his big smile and infectious laughter. He loved to pull pranks and had an amazing sense of humor. At his request, there will be no service and his remains will be interred in a private ceremony.
