October 5, 1930 - June 27, 2017. Ronald G. 'Ron' Hundley, Sr., 86, a longtime resident of the Forest Grove community, died Tuesday afternoon, June 27, 2017.

Ronald G. "Ron" Hundley, Sr., 86, a longtime resident of the Forest Grove community, died Tuesday afternoon, June 27, 2017 at the D & T Adult Foster Care Home in Forest Grove.

Viewing hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, and 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 8 at the Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home, 2308 Pacific Avenue in Forest Grove, with the Reverend Richard E. Osburn, United Church of Christ Minister, Retired, officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the chapel service, to be held in the fellowship room of the funeral home. Full Military Honors will be under the auspices of the American Legion Washington Post #2 in Forest Grove.

Ronald Guymon Hundley, Sr. was born October 5, 1930 inForest Grove, Oregon, the oldest of four children born to the late William Harvey Hundley and Elsie Mary (Gardner) Hundley. He was raised and received his early education in the Gales Creek Community. Ron graduated with the Forest Grove High School Class of 1948.

He worked for the Oregon Forestry department from 1950-1951. Ron was a Veteran of the Korean conflict joining the United States Army on June 28, 1951 in Portland, Oregon. He served for three years in the 6th Infantry Division, until he received his honorable discharge on June 29, 1954 at Fort Lewis, Washington, at the rank of Sergeant. Following his discharge, Ron worked for Marvin Parsons in the Prune industry. Later in 1954, Ron worked in the grocery industry for various stores for twenty-three years.

Ron was united in marriage to Veda Lorene Jackson on July 12, 1957 in the Forest Grove Assembly of God Church. Following their marriage they lived in the Forest Grove community, where they have resided since.

In 1979, Ron and Veda started a cleaning business which they operated together for twenty-nine years, until they retired.

He was a member of the Forest Grove Assembly of God Church.

Among his special interests, Ron enjoyed camping, fishing and hiking with family. He also liked outings to the coast and reading. His favorite morning past-time was reading the Oregonian and doing the Jumble, while drinking his coffee.

Ron and Veda would have celebrated their 60th wedding anni­versary this July 12, 2017.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents William Hundley and Elsie Axtell, and his brother, William Steven "Bill" Hundley.

Survivors include his wife, Veda Hundley, of the fami­ly home in Forest Grove, Oregon; his four children, Ronald Guymon Hundley, Jr., of Forest Grove, Oregon; Douglas Edward Hundley, of Phoenix, Arizona; Debra Eileen Hundley, of Forest Grove, Oregon, and Michael Ray Hundley and his spouse Cathy of LaPine, Oregon; his brother, Daniel Ivan Hundley, of Gales Creek, Oregon and his sister, Janice Lorraine Hundley Hutchins, of Forest Grove, Oregon.

Also surviving are his ten grandchildren, eight great-grand­children and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to D & T Homes, LLC, at 1170 32nd Place, Forest Grove, Oregon, 97116, where Ron last resided and received wonderful, loving care.
