Terry K. Swakhammer
Terry K. Swakhammer, 72, a longtime resident of the Cornelius community, died Tuesday afternoon, March 2, 2021 in Hillsboro, Oregon, of cancer.
Graveside Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the Marsing Homedale Cemetery in Idaho, with Pastor John Cossel, of the Marsing Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial Rites and Interment will follow at the cemetery.
Terry Kenneth Swakhammer was born January 3, 1949 in Forest Grove, Oregon, the son of the late Bud Swakhammer and Verna May (Harper) Wallace. He was raised and received his education in Hood River, Oregon, graduated from Wy'East High School in 1966.
He was united in marriage to Drusilla M. (Meininger) Breyne on December 16, 1984 in Vancouver, Washington. They celebrated their 36th Wedding Anniversary this past December.
Terry started in car sales at Bruce Chevrolet in 1981 where he was promoted to sales manager. He worked at several car dealerships before and after his 8 years at Hertz Car Sales in Portland, Oregon, which ended in 2008, when Hertz closed the car sales department. Prior to management in sales, Terry logged, drove truck and he was also a pilot and veteran of the Vietnam war.
Among his special interests, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting and spending time with family. Survivors include his wife, Drusilla, of the family home in Cornelius, Oregon; his children, including, Maeve (Eric) and Elke (Igor); his sister Nelly (Philip); several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
