Bob Watrous

Following a year-long struggle with cancer, Bob Watrous passed peacefully on Sunday, July 11, 2021, with his wife and sister beside him. Born March 16, 1937, in Portland, OR and raised in Forest Grove, Bob loved all things science and math-related and was passionate about music and theater. After graduating in 1960 from Oregon State with a degree in chemical engineering, he moved to Richland, WA to work at the Hanford site converting from wartime to peacetime production and the safe disposal/storage of nuclear waste, retiring in 2004. Over the years, Bob sang with several choral groups and the Shalom UCC choir. He also performed, directed plays and built sets for the Richland Players and other organizations, receiving lifetime achievement awards for his years of service.

Another joy was counseling and then directing UCC youth camps for 19 years on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Each year Bob created skits, radio, and puppet shows to bring to life scriptures for the day and themes for each week. He loved creating crafts and science experiments to demonstrate to campers how to be good stewards of planet Earth.

Bob leaves behind his wife, Libby; sister, Jane Romig; sons, Mark and Joel Watrous; daughter-in-law, Jaime Bryan and grandchild Leona Watrous. We will miss him dearly.
