Sharlene Lucille Ott
Sharlene Lucille Ott was born June 28, 1937, in McMinnville, OR, the daughter of Clifford Dudley and Matilda (Tilly) Eleanor (Halbach) Epling of Gaston, OR. Sharlene graduated from Gaston High School in 1955 and was united in marriage to Carl Joseph Ott Jr. in Forest Grove, OR and hours later they began their adventure to Pittsburg where Carl served in the Army as a cook. Sharlene passed away one day shy of 65 years of marriage.
Sharlene loved to travel! She told many stories and shared her photo albums with family and friends about their three great trips to Jamaica. She also traveled to Germany with her childhood friend Janiec James Winegar. They started out friends at the age of 6 in first grade and were friends until the day she passed.
Sharlene worked at the Joseph Gale and Harvey Clark Elementary Schools as a cook for over 25 years. It was a job she enjoyed and got to walk to work to as it was only three blocks from her home in Forest Grove.
Sharlene was also an avid gardener. Many days after work and all summer long you would see her tending to her beautiful garden. She had a prize wisteria that grew the whole front of her house, not to mention a wide variety of clematis trellising all over the garden. For years, friends and family would wander through the garden and often come out with a handful of fruit and vegetables that Sharlene grew. That beautiful garden won her second place in the garden contest put on by the Forest Grove Garden Club. Her garden was almost a beautiful and giving as Sharlene was.
Another passion of Sharlene's was collecting antiques. She loved to go to garage sales with her husband, Carl and find little treasures which they have enjoyed for years.
Sharlene leaves behind her husband, Carl Joseph Ott Jr.; her brother, Maynard; sisters, Sharon and Karen Epling; three sons, Dale Ott, Dennis (and Dena) Ott, and David (and Tracie) Ott; three grandchildren, Christopher Ott, Austin Ott and Kalyn Plamondon along with 6 great grandchildren. Sharlene was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Tilly Epling and her granddaughter Ashley Labore.
Sharlene passed away March 24, 2021, and was laid to rest August 9, 2021, in the Willamette Cemetery in Happy Valley, OR.
