SUBMITTED PHOTO - Gina Rene HernandezIt is with great sadness that the family of Gina Rene Jackson Urbach Hernandez of Culver, announces her passing after a brief battle with cancer, on April 19, 2019, at the age of 51.

Gina was born in Ottawa, Kansas, to Bob and Kholeen Jackson, on March 7, 1968. The family moved to Madras, Oregon, in 1978, where Gina attended school and participated in cheerleading and gymnastics.

In 1987, she married Mark Urbach of Culver. From that union came three children: daughter, Vanessa, and sons, Jake and Kyle. They eventually divorced and Gina and children moved to Brookings, where she would manage the Jackson family-owned Pacific Sunset Inn, and eventually work for Tidewater Contractors Inc.

In Brookings, Gina met and married Peter (Tony)Hernandez, of San Diego, California. They would be blessed with two more children: son, Brandon, and daughter, Tyler. The family moved to Madras where Gina was home again. She was employed at BestCare Treatment Services before pursuing a career as a full-time in-home caretaker.

Gina was creative and passionate about many things: such as gardening, fishing, crafting, combing through thrift shops, and her grandchildren. She often spoke fondly of her childhood in Kansas and had many memories of spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Tony; children, Vanessa (Mike) Romero, Jake (Ashley) Urbach, Kyle Urbach, Brandon Hernandez, and Tyler Hernandez; grandsons, Brycen Urbach, Marty Romero and Zander Urbach; brother, Roy (Tena) Jackson; sisters, Pam (Tom) Widolff , and Lana (Derrick) Mauritson; nieces, Kelly (Scott) Murray, Haley (Russ) Rice, Shelby Mauritson; and nephew, Garrett Mauritson; and companion, Paul Mohr.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and first husband, Mark.

A memorial is scheduled for later in the spring. Any donations can be made to the Oregon Humane Society in honor of her beloved dog, Tucker.
