LaVina Helena Smith
LaVina Helena Smith, age 92, passed away on June 7, 2019, in Redmond, Oregon.
LaVina was born on Jan. 30, 1927, in Osakis, Minnesota, to parents, Matthew and Mary Housen. She graduated from high school in Lebanon, Oregon.
LaVina married the love of her life, Bob, on June 29, 1946, in Lebanon. She was a housewife and stay-at-home mother to her two children, until they moved to Madras, in 1972. She later became the store owner of Fashion Crossroads.
LaVina was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She made such an impact on everyone she came in contact with. Her hobbies were socializing and spoiling her friends and family. She loved talking on the phone and later learned how to use email and Facebook to keep in touch with family and friends
LaVina is survived by her daughter, Renee Skeels; son, Don Smith; grandchildren, Kelly Knight, Jeremy Skeels, Kristen Pettit, Stephanie Dorsey, Emily Smith; great-grandchildren, Ashley Knight, Zackary Pettit, Hailey Skeels, Allison Skeels, Rylie Knight, Ryan Knight, Nichole Skeels, Brandon Skeels, and Grant Dorsey (due in October 2019).
She was preceded in death by her spouse, Robert C. Smith, who passed away on Sept. 24, 2008.
A rosary was recited on June 13, 2019, at St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Mass of Christian burial was on June 14, 2019, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Mount Jeff erson Memorial Park Cemetery in Madras.
