Charles Daniel Johnson
On Saturday, May 29, two and a half months prior to his 97th birthday, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, husband, and friend to all, left this earth for a better place. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Chuck left a large legacy including son's, Steven C. Johnson of Ridgefield, Washington, John E. Johnson of Tumalo, Oregon, Douglas D. Johnson of Willowdale, Oregon, and daughter, Leanne Johnson of Redmond, Oregon. The highlight of his life was sharing his home and time with these children; his 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nine great-great- grandchildren; their spouses; and a multitude of friends and relatives.
Chuck grew up in Portland, where he met and married Betty, his beautiful bride of 67 years. There, they raised their four children. After an early retirement, Chuck began his second career on their ranch in Willowdale, Oregon.
He was very passionate about ranching and the outdoors. Chuck worked hard with the Soil and Water Conservation Department to improve the water flow and natural grasses in that area. Chuck and his son, Doug were awarded "Cattlemen of the Year" for Jefferson County during that time. Chuck was also a proud veteran of WWII.
In 2003, Chuck and Betty moved to "The Greens in Redmond". There they enjoyed making many new friends. Chuck really like golfing and played a lot. And he absolutely loved the potlucks. In his final days, he was still sitting on his deck watching the golfers, many of whom he knew, and dodging golf balls.
We will all miss Chuck, as he has etched a special place in our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Chuck's life on Aug. 15, at 4 p.m., at the Park at the Greens at Redmond.
