Shirley Ann (Claymore) Billingsley, a resident of Madras, passed away and entered into the spirit world June 10, 2021, at the age of 85.
She was born September 6, 1935, in Fort Yates, North Dakota, and attended school in Wakpala, South Dakota. On July 23, 1953, in Big Timber, Montana, she married Bob Billingsley.
They made their first home in Warm Springs, and moved into Madras in the early '60s. She enjoyed going to yard sales, flea markets, and attending her grandchildrens' sport events.
Every summer Shirley would take her yearly trip back to the Dakotas to visit her family and stock up on cocoa wheat. She worked as a cook's helper for several years at the Warm Springs Elementary School and retired as head cook at Madras Child Care Center.
In 2013, she made her home at East Cascade Assisted Living and resided there until her passing.
Shirley is survived by her son, Kenny (Karla) Billingsley of Manderson, South Dakota; daughter, Barbara (Brent) Moschetti of Madras; brothers, Duane (Sissy) Claymore of Mobridge, South Dakota, Chuck (Kim) Claymore of Kenel, South Dakota; sisters, Maxine (Duane, deceased) Phillips of Fort Yates, North Dakota, Marie (Fred) Baker of Bismark, North Dakota, Sydney "Dolly" Claymore of Kenel, South Dakota, eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild whom she never got the pleasure of meeting due to COVID; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Leona Claymore; husband, Bob; daughter, Brenda; nephews, Richie and Rodney Dunn, Kevin and Clay Claymore.
A memorial service was held June 29. A celebration of life was postponed due to the hot weather conditions and will be held at a later date.
