David Leroy 'Pete' Thomas
Pete Thomas passed away at his home after battling a series of health-related issues over the past few years.
He was born October 10, 1938, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Marie and David William Thomas. The family, along with his sisters Shirley and Beverly, moved to Nyssa, Oregon, when Pete was still very young.
Pete would go on to attend Nyssa High School graduating in 1957. It was in high school that Pete met his future wife, Judy Watts. They married on August 16, 1958 and moved to Madras where they raised three daughters and a son, Kelli, Mardi, Traci and Jason.
Pete had a 20-year career in law enforcement working for both the Madras Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. For more than a decade he also owned and operated Pete's River Shuttle Service. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judy, and his sister Shirley Cooper.
He is survived by his daughters Kelli Lonning of Vancouver; Mardi Jorgensen of Madras; Traci Thomas Monihan of West Linn; and his son Jason Thomas of Madras; his sister Beverly Krehmeyer of Madras; as well as 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Pete's kidding nature and boyish smile will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
