Loyd Vincent, 88, passed away August 14, at his home in Madras.
Loyd was born November 28, 1932, at home in Grizzly, Oregon, to Judson and Mary Vincent. He attended grade school in Grizzly, often as one of only two students in his entire school. Loyd graduated from Madras High School.
He was drafted into the Army and served at Ft. Louis, Washington. On June 28, 1954, he married Delores Snyder. Together they had two sons and one daughter.
Loyd worked for Portland General Electric as a hydro-electric operator until his retirement He was a charter member of Elks, serving as Exalted Ruler in 1969. Loyd truly enjoyed his retirement years. He was well-known for his practical jokes. He enjoyed traveling and was often invited to go fishing in Alaska. not just because he was a slow runner in bear country.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren. His last birthday wish was to ride a horse one more time. Granddaughter, Kayla, assembled a team, and together they managed to get Loyd on a horse again for his final ride.
Loyd is survived by his loving wife, Delores; children, Randy (Betty), Suzi (Bill) Hollingsworth and Ron (Sue Ellen); grandchildren, Kayla, Bryce and Levi Vincent; and one great-grandson, Declan.
At his request, no services are being planned.
