Mark Werner, 80, of Lapwai, Idaho, passed away August 29, 2021, in his home after a long battle with illness, his wife, Faye, by his side.
Mark was born August 11, 1941, in Mobridge, South Dakota. He graduated college and joined the Navy. Mark married his first wife, Linda Widmer, and they had three children, Brett (Uriel), Todd, and Nikki (three grandchildren, Rain, Lokesh, and Solar). They moved to Madras in 1969, where Mark worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) in the division of law enforcement. In 1982, Mark, with his second wife, Bernice and her son, Jerry, moved to Marysville, Washington, as BIA Special Agent until his retirement.
Mark married Faye in 1988, and after their retirement, moved to Lapwai, Idaho, where Faye is a member of the Nez Perce Tribe.
Mark will be remembered for his big heart and a story with laughter for everyone he met. He had so many friends from his travels. Mark and Faye were surrounded by family and enjoyed going to many Pow Wows and events with Faye's family. Faye's daughter, Maggie (Kip) and children (Doug, Brandon, and Jerry) were always looking in on Mark.
He is survived by his wife, Faye, who lost her rock and best friend; brother, Merle (Terry) and his three children, Brett, Todd, and Nikki; and first wife, Linda (Herb). Mark was preceded in death by his parents, August and Lucille; his second wife, Bernice.
