Norma Jackie née Brindel Weiss
Norma Jackie née Brindel Weiss died November 27, 2021 due to congestive heart failure. Jackie was born in Leloup, Kansas, but came to Portland, OR when she was two years old and remained a lifelong resident.
She attended Oregon State University and married her college sweetheart, Vern L. Weiss, with whom she spent 65 years of marriage.
Throughout her life, Jackie pursued many careers and interests. During the 1980's she refined her baking skills when the family ran the Clark Cottage Restaurant and Bakery in Ashland, Ore. Her skills as a seamstress served her in good stead as she became the manager of several fabric stores in Portland, Ore. This interest evolved into a lifelong love of quilting. A member of Northwest Quilters Guild, Jackie's quilts won many awards and were featured in newspapers such as the Oregonian. She was loved by her neighbors, who often stopped by to chat with her while she gardened. Jackie was a fascinating conversationalist, even with her hearing loss. She brought bright colors, her delighted laugh, her positive bustling energy, and her artistry into many lives.
Jackie is survived by her two loving children, David and Deborah, and three grandchildren, Catherine, Montgomery, and Martin.
The family requests any memorial gifts be contributed to the Emanuel Medical Center Foundation to support cancer research.
