Ida Louise Wilks
Ida Wilks is a warm generous energetic lady who always wore a smile on her face and spread love to everyone she met.
She met her husband Jerry at the UW Seattle and soon moved to Bainbridge Island, WA where 5 of their 6 children were born. In 1960, moved to Sherwood, where they raised their family and grew roots for years to come.
All the kids agree that they hit the parent lottery with Ida and Jerry Wilks. Their white VW microbus was a wonderful traveling car with memorable adventures across the US.
Ida, a friend to so many as mentor, teacher, neighbor and taxi service to kids, grandkids and ailing friends that were unable to drive themselves. She was also present in the community cheering at extracurricular and schooling events, and volunteering at many different locations. Ida and her husband were active members in their community, St. James Episcopal Church and the Portland
Ida carried on without her beloved Jerry, driving special education school bus in the mornings and attending school in the evening. She went on to further her career with a Masters degree in Special Education, teaching at St Mary's Home for Boys and various schools in the WA County ESD.
