It is with tremendous shock and sadness that I announce the unexpected passing of my wife of nearly 32 years, Kathleen Kratchman. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and a shining bright light to all who knew her.
Both Army brats, we met when we were both 18 and our fathers were both stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas. We fell in love immediately and through ups and downs, never looked back. Our children were our focus, our joy, and our greatest achievement. The excitement of our 4 grandchildren, all born within the last three years, brought us unparalleled happiness and purpose and she'd talk to everyone about them whether you wanted to hear about them or not.
Kathleen raised our family during our 20's and 30's and then started an in-home daycare, making an impact on the lives of so many local Sherwood families and children. As our children began leaving the nest, she took a job as an event coordinator and trivia presenter at the Growler House and then at Generations, continuing to spread her light, laughter, and mischievous spirit.
Kathleen loved her cats and dogs, gardening, kayaking, and nurturing her spirituality. And she shared her knowledge and her energy with everyone she came in contact with.
We loved with reckless abandon, both each other, and our friends. We had a love affair for the ages and we knew it. She always told people she loved them and everyone loved her back. Her energy, presence, and attentive ear are missed terribly by all who knew her.
Kathleen is survived by myself, her husband Bryan Kratchman (of Sherwood, OR); her 4 children, Sarah Anderson (Vancouver, WA), Sean Kratchman (Killeen, TX), Jessica Morris (Sherwood, OR), and Aubrey Kratchman (Lafayette, IN); and 4 grandchildren, Niles Kratchman and Clive Kratchman (Killeen, TX) and Lilja Anderson and Leon Anderson (Vancouver, WA).
