Ruth Marie Peters
Ruth Marie Peters died on May 21, 2022 at her daughter's home in Amity, Ore. at age 90. She was born on February 19, 1932 to John and Leona Meissinger in Chehalis, Wash.
She moved to Sherwood as a toddler, when her father became the Minister at St. Paul Lutheran Church, and then moved to Newberg in 1961 where she and her husband Adam Peters raised their children. In 2017 Ruth moved to Aster House, she enjoyed the activities, and many friends that she made there.
She worked in the labor and delivery department at Newberg Community Hospital for over 34 years, and a few years after it became Providence. She enjoyed her job, and the joy of helping to bring a new life into the world. She also taught Lamaze class to expectant parents in Newberg for many years and would often get to see them again in the delivery room.
Ruth enjoyed walking and getting her steps in every day. She kept a beautiful flower garden, and she and Adam grew a vegetable garden every summer, as fresh corn on the cob was her favorite! In the winter she liked to read, do crossword puzzles and word searches, and play Scrabble on the computer. She and Adam volunteered at FISH from many years, as well as enjoyed their senior exercise class, and made many friends there, so much so that they still met up even after the class disbanded. But her all-time favorite thing to do was to go camping and fishing, with Adam, and family. There was pretty much a contest every trip between Ruth and her brother-in-law Ron, to see who could catch the most fish. Spring though Fall the RV was packed up and ready for their next adventure.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Peters; parents John and Leona Meissinger; brother Jack Meissinger; and sisters Jo Labrousse and Judy Ferry. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Fosmark (Gordon) of Amity, OR, son, Tony Peters of Newberg and Susie Williams (Tom Steigleder) of Newberg, OR; OR; grandsons Justin Fosmark (Joanne), Evan Fosmark, Seth Williams and Nate (Luci) Williams; and great- grandchildren Kylie Fosmark and Jon Fosmark; sister Cathy Snyder (Ron); and many nieces and nephews.
