SUBMITTED PHOTO - Tony GoldaTony Golda of Sherwood, OR died the morning of June 6, 2022 at his residence at the Ackerly at Sherwood. He was 79 years old.

Tony was born Edward Anthony Golda to Edward and Victoria (Bober) Golda in Pasadena, California on January 12, 1943. Tony was the eldest of three other brothers: Larry, Chris, and Joe. Tony was raised Catholic and attended Mass with his family every week. Tony attended St. Pius V High School in Downey, CA and graduated in 1960. After high school, he attended St. Edward's University, where he majored in business administration. He then attended UCLA and earned a Master's degree in public health. In the late 1960s, while working for USAID in Vietnam, Tony volunteered delivering truckloads medical supplies behind enemy lines to those who needed them.

On August 22, 1970 Tony married Carole J. Carter, and from their union three children were born: Lisa, Matthew, and David. In 1972, Tony went back to school at Johns Hopkins University where he also achieved a Masters in Public Health. In 1976, Tony's job with USAID moved his family to Liberia in West Africa, where they lived in Monrovia for a year and a half.

They then relocated to Gresham, OR where they raised their kids and lived for over forty years at their house on SE 22nd Dr. During that time, Tony worked for The Brim Companies (which became Encore Senior Living) in the capacities of market research, Human Resources, and risk management. He retired in 2007, which allowed him to spend more time in his RV camping at the beach. Tony and Carole relocated to the Ackerly at Sherwood in fall 2020 to be closer to family.

Tony was a devout Catholic and was a man of compassion and selflessness, often helping take disabled parishioners to mass. In his free time Tony enjoyed stamp collecting, coin collecting, and genealogy. More interests of his were maps, computers, and volunteering at St. Henry's Parish in Gresham. Tony will be greatly missed. He will be remembered as a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of fifty one years, Carole Golda; his three children: Lisa Sanderson of Manitowoc Rapids, WI, Matt Golda of Sherwood, and Dave Golda of Bend. He is also survived by two brothers; Chris Golda of Downey, CA and Joe Golda of Clovis, CA; and six grandchildren.

A funeral mass was held at St. Francis Catholic Church in Sherwood. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham, OR. In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
