Timothy William Hammerbeck
Timothy William Hammerbeck was born on November 18, 1966, in Portland, Oregon and was adopted three weeks later by William and Mary Ann Hammerbeck of Southwest Portland. He joined older sisters, Susan (Page) and Linda (Morud) and later the family adopted a younger brother, Todd. His brother, Mark, preceded him in death at age two.
On meeting baby Tim for the first time, Grandma Elsa Hammerbeck remarked, "He has a sociable ear." His family and friends will surely attest to Tim's social confidence and creative abilities. Throughout his life, he made many friends both here and abroad.
As a gifted floral designer, Tim loved to brighten the day for others through his beautiful creations, hospitality skills and lively conversations. He inspired people with his positive outlook on life.
Spending time in the travel business, he was a master tour guide leading family and friends on worldwide adventures. Tim lived in California, Italy, and Oregon.
During the early hours of November 7, 2020, Tim died peacefully in his sleep of unknown natural causes eleven days short of his 54th birthday. Through the years he had many medical challenges which eventually caught up to him way too soon.
Tim leaves behind many grieving family members and friends. His parrot Romeo, his dog, Buddy, four turtles and three Koi fish are all receiving care in their newly adoptive homes.
At Tim's request, no formal memorial service will be held. In December, friends held a Zoom celebration. This summer, his family will gather to share pictures, thoughts and stories about their much-loved Tim.
