Richard 'Dick' Allen Severson
Richard "Dick" Allen Severson, 90, of Salem, Oregon, passed away on December 4th, 2020 after a brief battle with Covid-19.
Dick was born on November 19th, 1930 to Sophus and Verna (Johnson) Severson in Havre, Montana. After graduating from West Fargo High School in 1948, he joined the airforce and was stationed in Shreveport, LA, San Antonio, TX, and Anchorage, AK before ending his term of service as a Staff Sergeant in 1955 after meeting his future wife, Marie Cox at a USO dance in Portland, OR. They married August 12, 1956.
Dick went on to study at Lewis and Clark College before taking a job at Multnomah Bank in 1958 kicking off a long career in banking. After becoming president of Bank of St Helens, Dick went on to start and operate several new banks. Dick proved to be a leader in the banking industry, eventually becoming the youngest president of the Oregon Independent Banking Association. Dick was well known across the state in the banking industry and was friends to many.
After retiring in 1987, Dick spent his time camping, fishing, teasing his beloved grandchildren, and was always up for a new adventure.
Dick was predeceased by his loving wife of 36 years, Marie, his parents, Sophus and Verna; and his brother, Robert. He is survived by his daughter, Lori Lytle; sons Mark (Robin) and Todd; granddaughters Heather, Angeline (Aaron), Jamie (Clinton), Megan, Jennifer (Nathan), Carlie (Eric), and grandson, Jacob, as well as many beloved greatgrandchildren.
