Dale Robert Walker
On Saturday, May 29th, 2021, Dale R. Walker, loving husband and father of two, passed away at age 82.
Dale was born on June 24th, 1938, in Mandan, North Dakota to Edward and Lillian Walker. At a young age the family moved to Oregon and Dale resided in Oregon for the remainder of his long life.
He graduated from Roosevelt High School where he met his soon to be wife. On September 27, 1958, he married Sandra L. Bauer and they raised a son Kerry and daughter Sierra.
Other than a stint in the Air National Guard in the early 60s, Dale spent his working career at Standard Oil of California (later renamed Chevron Corporation) at their Portland Asphalt Plant.
In the early 70s he partnered with his brother Donald and opened Ace Auto Wrecking in Longview, Washington. Donald and Dale owned and operated that business well into the 90s when Dale retired both from Chevron Corporation and sold his half of Ace Auto Wrecking to Donald.
Dale liked to hunt and fish and spent many hours on the Columbia River with his son Kerry, brother Donald, and nephew Kevin. He would take trips to eastern Oregon, Montana, and Wyoming to go varmint hunting.
Dale and Sandy also spent a considerable amount of time traveling. They have had vacations in Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Hawaii, as well as, many trips around the western contiguous United States.
Dale was preceded in death by his father Edward, mother Lillian, sisters Ellen and Jean and brother Richard.
He is survived by his wife Sandy, daughter Sierra and her husband Reggie, son Kerry and his wife Cherie, and granddaughters Ashley and Caitlin. He is also survived by his brothers Dennis, Donald, Ernie, and Charlie and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
