Jane Lillian Michaud
Jane Lillian Michaud, age 97, passed away very peacefully on July 12, 2019 at 9:07 p.m. at her residence at Sofia's Home in Wilsonville, Oregon. Her passing was preceded by long distance phone calls from her children facilitated by her oldest son Jim who was at her side.
Mrs. Michaud was born May 27, 1922 in Harrison, Idaho, then a lumber town on the east shore of Lake Coeur d' Alene in northern Idaho. She was educated in schools in Potlatch, Idaho and Klamath Falls, Oregon. On August 11, 1943 Jane married Leonard Michaud at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Jane had just graduated from the four year nursing course at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. Her employment as a nurse included work at Oregon Health Sciences Hospital in Portland, Oregon and as a 24-hour home care nurse in Portland, Oregon. Jane later enjoyed attending many annual luncheons of alumni of the nursing school.
As the wife of a military man, Jane and her family accompanied her husband to assignments in many states and in Canada and Norway throughout his 27-year career.
Once Leonard retired from the Air Force the Michaud family located to Portland, Oregon. They often went camping at Clear Lake, Detroit Lake, and skiing on Mount Hood. They had earlier enjoyed many skiing excursions and vacations in Norway. Later Jane and her husband Leonard resided in Beaverton, King City, and Tigard. Leonard passed away in 2006 and Jane later moved to Sherwood and Wilsonville.
Jane was an Avon representative for decades. She received many sales awards and was a proud member of the Presidents club and enjoyed conventions in Las Vegas. Jane was an accomplished bridge player throughout her life. She loved to play the penny slots at the casinos at the Oregon Coast.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years; her parents Ralph and Agnes LaLonde; and her brother Everett LaLonde.
Survivors include sons and daughters in law Jim and Glenda of Sagle, Idaho, Richard and Janet of Haines City, Florida, Bob of Evergreen Colorado, Mary Anne of Sacramento, California, Mike of the Philippines, David of Vancouver Washington; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church in Sherwood, Oregon, at 11 a.m. Wednesday August 7, 2019 with Reception to follow in the Parish Center. A Committal Ceremony will be held that afternoon at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon, at 2:30 p.m.
