Marilyn Lee (Westcott) Crabbs died peacefully in her Hillsboro home on February 7, 2020 surrounded by loving family.
Marilyn was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to George W. Westcott and Gladys Lee (Watkins) Westcott, and grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Marilyn received a BA in Home Economics from Iowa State University, where she met her husband, Roger Alan Crabbs. Wed in 1951, they enjoyed a nearly 60-year marriage. Marilyn taught HomeEc at Auburn University when her husband was in the Korean war. After his return, they lived in many exciting locales, including New Mexico, Washington, DC, and the Panama Canal Zone, raising three children. Marilyn always stated that she loved being an AF wife!
The family settled in Beaverton, Oregon in 1972. Marilyn earned a Masters in European History from University of Portland in 1979. Marilyn held lifetime memberships in Pi Beta Phi and PEO, Chapter N, of Portland. Marilyn soloed in various choirs, organized a string quartet which she and Roger played in for many years, and performed in local theater productions, a favorite being "Oliver". Marilyn and Roger enjoyed many worldwide travels and exploring geneologic roots.
Marilyn's greatest role was that of loving and supportive wife and mother. She will be remembered by all who knew her as positive, enthusiastic, and caring - reflecting the love of Christ.
Marilyn is survived by son William Crabbs (Danuta); daughters Janet Turner (Scot), Ann Menke (Douglas); seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; and a grandson, Stefan William Crabbs.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm, February 16, 2020, at Rock Creek Retirement Community in Hillsboro, OR. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rock Creek Special Assistance Fund, for elders in need.
