Wilsonville accountant and civic leader Frank Lilly has died. A celebration of his life will be held later this spring.

Frank Lilly

December 2, 1954 to December 16, 2018

Frank Lilly, certified public accountant (CPA), passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018, following a lengthy illness and just two weeks after his 64th birthday. His greatest regrets were not living long enough to be eligible for Medicare and his knees not lasting long enough to continue to play tennis the last couple of years of his life.

He was born December 2, 1954, at the US Naval Station in Key West, Fla., and grew up in McAlester Oklahoma. As a young adult, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, following the lure of an early career as a radio announcer and then television reporter and weatherman for KTEW Channel 2. He then moved to the big time in Nashville, Tenn., as an announcer and story teller for WSM Radio 65, the Grand Ole Opry country music station, where he was described as "just fun to listen to."

For reasons he could never quite explain, he decided that radio/television was not necessarily the best longterm career choice, so he moved to California where he attended Golden Gate University to study accounting and earn his CPA credential. He spent the next 30 years as a CPA and accountant. He practiced in Monterey County, California, as a sole practitioner, accounting firm partner and mortgage company controller. In 2006, he and his wife, Donna Bane, married and moved to Charbonneau in Wilsonville, where he practiced as a sole practitioner focusing on tax preparation and planning for individuals and organizations. He was a past board member and treasurer for the Wilsonville Public Library Foundation and the Wilsonville Kiwanis Club. While in Monterey he was a board member and treasurer for the Alliance on Aging and the Carmel Presbyterian Church Foundation.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Bane, and his brother, Barry Swanson, of Littleton, Colorado.

A celebration of life will be held later in the spring.
