Laura Leona Caldwell
Born to German emigrants, Mary Schriber Schuman and August Schuman Sr., Laura was the 7th of 11 siblings. Most of her classroom years were spent in the Tri-City area of WA. Their farm provided food during lean years.
Laura met and married Burton E. Caldwell in 1944. He went to sea and she took wartime work. After WWII, they settled in Pasco, and had 3 children. In 1955, all five moved to Ogden, UT. Laura hit full stride in the following years by working fulltime, raising a family, and volunteering at the American Legion. In the late 60s, they relocated to the NW and settled in Wilsonville, Ore. in 1971. Laura continued to work into her retirement years and also volunteered at the Moose Lodge. After 61 years of marriage, Burt died in 2005. The following year, Laura moved to Canby with her son, David. Now in her 80s, she enjoyed gardening, caring for her son, and trips to Safeway. She was an honest, hardworking, deeply caring Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by 2 siblings: Jim (Vy) Schuman, and Mary (Gene) Kirby; 3 children, David and Noreen Caldwell, and Curtis (Marsha) Caldwell; 2 grandsons, Jason (Lori) and Jesse (Laura) Caldwell; and her greatgrandchildren, Cameron and Aidan Caldwell.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 1 - 4 pm at Canby Pioneer Chapel, 508 NW 3rd Ave, Canby, OR 97013. Bring your singing voice, because LAURA LOVED TO SING HYMNS; reception to follow.
