Longtime Wilsonville and Portland area businessman Duane 'Pete' Petersen died March 11, 2020. Services will be held at 2 p.m. March 18 at Cornwell Wilsonville Chapel.

April 11, 1932 to March 11, 2020

Duane was born to Elmer and Selma Petersen

in Ulen, Minn. He grew up in the Albany

area. Duane spent two years at Oregon State,

and four years at University of Oregon to obtain his architectural degree. He served with the US Coast Guard between 1953-55.

Duane (known as Pete) met his sweetheart Janice and they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past October.

Pete was a partner with Balsiger Petersen & Associates from 1969 to 1979, when he left to start his own firm in Wilsonville, Petersen Kolberg & Associates. With his partner, Steve Kolberg, the business has operated for the past 40 years. Pete retired in 1996.

Some of his design accomplishments include a chapel at Warner Pacific College, numerous churches for the Adventist Conference, Clackamas Community College, Lane Community College, and one he was most proud of, the design of Portland Adventist Hospital in 1970.

Pete served as a chairman of the Board at Warner Pacific College and served as chairman on the Design Review Board for the City of Wilsonville. He attended Athey Creek Christian Fellowship Church.

Pete is survived by his wife Jan; his sister Helen

(Harris); his daughter Debra (husband Duane Snider); sons Mark (wife Pam) and Brad (wife Krissy); nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services have been arranged at Cornwell Wilsonville Chapel to be held at 2 p.m. March 18.

Graveside services will be held later at Franklin Butte Cemetery in Scio, Ore.
