SUBMITTED PHOTO - Tony HoltOn Thursday, April 16, 2020, Anthony James Holt, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 84.

Tony was born on March 22, 1936 in Longridge, England to Jim and Maretta (West) Holt. He first attended Dollar Academy in Scotland before earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Glasgow, and later an MBA from the University of British Columbia. On September 30, 1961, he married Susanne McKenzie. Together they raised two daughters, Sally and Caroline. Tony's work, first as a geologist and then as an oil and gas exploration manager, took them from England across Canada, and then to the U.S., Indonesia, Pakistan, Oman, Qatar, and Peru. After retiring, Tony and Susanna settled in Charbonneau, Oregon.

His father Jim, a local Councilman in Prescott, Lancashire, instilled in Tony a strong sense of civic responsibility. Tony spent many years in Charbonneau working to enhance the quality of life and well-being of his beloved community. In addition to volunteering on many local committees and for the World Affairs Council of Portland, Tony worked tirelessly for 15 years as a board member and later as President of the Charbonneau Country Club.

His mother Maretta, a lifelong teacher, imparted upon Tony an exceptional dedication to family. His only love greater than that for community was his deep love and sense of duty toward his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was caring, loyal, fiercely protective and the very best of role models.

Tony was a true gentleman - a wise and collaborative leader, interesting conversationalist, community activist, loving caretaker, beloved patriarch and a genuinely great man. Tony is survived by his wife Susanna; his children Sally and Caroline; grandsons Evan, Will, and Anthony and granddaughters Christina and Chelse. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Oregon Health Sciences University (Knight Cancer Early Detection).
