February 13, 1935 ~ October 18, 2017 - Carl enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening and driving his antique tractor. Carl was a volunteer fire fighter for the Aurora fire department.

On Oct. 18, 2017, beloved husband, father and friend Carl Anderson VanLieu passed away peacefully at home in Aurora from complications with Parkinson's. His wife Joy was by his side. Carl was born on February 13, 1935 in Warrensburg Missouri to James and Anna VanLieu.

He grew up in Hubbard along with his siblings John, Wayne, Barbara and Peggy. He graduated from North Marion High School where he met Joy McCarty. He and Joy were married June 10, 1956 and remained so for 61 years. Carl worked for Boeing in Seattle where they had their first child Sheryl. After moving to Aurora, they had two sons Brian and Ken. Carl worked at Tektronix for 36 years before retiring.

Carl enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening and driving his antique tractor. Carl was a volunteer fire fighter for the Aurora fire department for 41 years. He believed it was his way of contributing back to his community. A memorial service will be held at the Hubbard Chapel at 1p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017.
