November 5, 1938 ~ December 4, 2017 - In the community, Verl was known as 'the mail man,' having spent over 30 years as a United States Rural Mail Carrier in Hubbard, Oregon.

Verl William FobertBeloved husband and father Verl William Fobert of Aurora passed away on Monday, December 4. The oldest of five children, Verl was born on November 5, 1938 in Woodburn, Oregon, to Marion and William (Bill) Fobert.

After graduating from North Marion High School in 1956, he attended OTI where he learned to do auto body work, skills he used while later working at Sauvain Ford in Woodburn Oregon in the 1960s. He married his wife, Nancy Misley, in 1961, and shortly afterwards the newlyweds moved to Stuttgart, Germany courtesy of the United States Army. Together they enjoyed the opportunity to venture around Europe in a Volkswagon Beetle. Before returning to the Pacific Northwest, they had a daughter, Michelle, who was born in Stuttgart in 1963. Son, Rodney, was born in Salem, Oregon, in 1965. In the community, Verl was known as "the mail man," having spent over 30 years as a United States Rural Mail Carrier in Hubbard, Oregon. He retired in 1999. In his younger years, Verl was an avid single-engine airplane pilot. He owned part interest in a Piper Tri-Pacer and flew out of Lenhardt Airpark in Whiskey Hill, Oregon. He also enjoyed working on cars and camping trips with his family. Verl is survived by his wife, his two children, five grandchildren, and three of his siblings. Memorial services were held on Saturday December 9th at St. Agnes Catholic Church, where Verl attended since he was born.
