Mary Ellen Flagg
Together they grew up and attended school in eastern Nebraska.
Mary was wed to her first husband Richard (Dick) Olmstead shortly after finishing high school. Together they ran a dry-cleaning business and raised two boys. Mary and Dick eventually moved the family to Oregon where she began her career as a machine operator for Modcom Inc. They lost their eldest, Randy Olmstead, in 1984. The following year, 1985, Dick then also passed away.
Mary met and married her second husband Marshall Flagg on November 24, 1986. She was a loving addition to his family of four children. She and Marshall did everything together, enjoying such activities as camping, crabbing, frequenting garage/ estate sales and auctions, and playing cards with family around special occasions. Mary was always known for taking pictures every time there was a gathering, whether by polaroid or clicking away with her disposable cameras. She was quite a feisty stinker when she wanted to be. One of Mary and Marshall's favorite things to do was going to casinos and plugging nearly every slot with a single coin or bill to see what they could get, and sometimes it paid off! They could also often be spotted at a KFC or McDonald's for a nice afternoon meal out of the house.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Marshall Flagg just a few short weeks ago. She was also preceded in death by her brother Jesse Bennett. Mary is survived by her sister Mildred Blanchard, five children (Ken Olmstead, Cathy McCormick, Marjie Parrott, Paul Flagg, and Michael Flagg), as well as 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Service were held at Simon-Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn OR on Saturday, December 1st.
