Julius Paul Burkert, Jr.
Paul was born December 8, 1936, at Woodburn Hospital, to J. Paul and Ruby (McKee) Burkert. Paul grew up and lived in the same house and property on Burkert Road until his passing. He attended two years of elementary school at Oak Lawn School, third through eighth grades at Elliott Prairie School, and went on to graduate from Canby Union High School. He also attended Oregon State University.
Paul met his wife, Helyn "Chic" (Burton), at Elliott Prairie Church. They were married on March 8, 1958, and raised three children on the farm. Paul was a farmer, mechanic, and shop foreman for several farm implement companies in the Willamette Valley.
Paul's passion was tractor pulling and won many trophies that he was immensely proud of. He was a member of the 59er's Tractor Club.
Paul is survived by his son Jay (Tami) Burkert, Elliott Prairie; daughter Pam (Mike) Williams, Bend; daughter Susan (Mark) Lowrie, Molalla; granddaughters Rachel (Bryan) Andyke, Aloha; Becca Williams, Redmond. Preceding him in death was his wife, Helyn.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., August 14, 2021, at Elliott Prairie Community Church (please casual dress). In lieu of flowers and cards, please spend quality time with your loved ones enjoying an ice cream treat.
