January 2, 1949 to December 14, 2019 George F. 'Pat' Patteson passed away peacefully

USER SUBMITTED - George PattesonGeorge F. "Pat" Patteson passed away peacefully on December 14, 2019 at the age of 70. Pat was born in Waynesboro, Tennessee and moved to Oregon at age 3 with his parents, George F. Patteson, Sr. and Frances L. Patteson. He attended schools in Albany, Oregon and Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. He and his wife Kay Suzanne (McCoy) Patteson were married in 1970 and moved to the Canby/Molalla area in 1971, then purchased their Molalla/Colton area property in 1976. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage and the joy of raising their son Chad in the Colton community. They were thrilled to welcome Chad's wife Kerry into the family and cherished the additions of grandchildren, Vivienne and Elliott.

Owning his own custom furniture business for 30 years, Pat's favorite hobby was building wooden boats. Over the years his fleet included row boats, kayaks, drift boats, sail boats, fishing boats, and a 20-foot cabin cruiser. Throughout his life he enjoyed camping, sailing, fishing and flying his own Cessna 172C "low and slow" over the farm fields of the Molalla/Mulino area. He especially enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others and volunteered as an astronomy guide for public telescope nights at the Haggart Observatory in the Environmental Learning Center of Clackamas Community College. He was a Colton Little League coach and a volunteer sports photographer for Colton High School sports. Pat had a great appreciation of nature and for 25 years volunteered and donated resources to Molalla River Watch, Inc. for Molalla River cleanups and restoration efforts.

Some of "Papa Pat's" favorite memories were from spending time with "kids and grandkids". He will be dearly missed.

Pat is survived by his loving wife Kay, son Chad, daughter-in-law Kerry, grandchildren Vivienne and Elliott, and sister-in-law Linda. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael and his mother and father.

A celebration of life gathering will be planned for 2020.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial donation to Molalla River Watch, Inc. - or Meals on Wheels -

Arrangements are being made by Crown Memorial Center.
