Daryl Dean Meisch
Daryl Dean Meisch, 69, of Canby, Ore. passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 of Mesothelioma. Daryl was born June 3, 1949 in Oregon City, Ore. to Lyle Meisch and Selma Dunn. He lived in Canby his whole life, and graduated from Canby Union High School.
Daryl served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk, enlisting in 1968 before his discharge in 1972. A Vietnam veteran, Daryl was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal.
Daryl later worked as a log boom operator for Caffall Bros. Forest Products. He owned an excavating business, then was a driver for the Canby schools. Daryl worked as a driver for Canby Area Transit, retiring in 2015.
In his free time, Daryl enjoyed farming, metal work and woodworking. He was a member of the American Legion, Canby Elks, and sang baritone for the Salem Senate-Aires.
Daryl is survived by his son, Anthony Meisch of St. Helens, Ore; daughter, Amy Meisch of Tigard, Ore.; loving companion, Shirley McGowan of Salem, Ore. as well as five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Selma Dunn; father, Lyle Meisch and brother, Lyle D. Meisch Jr.
A private memorial service will be held. Daryl will be lain to rest at Zion Memorial Park.
