Bruce C. Hoskins, 71, of Canby, Oregon passed away Friday, December 13, 2019 in Portland, Oregon after a battle with Gliobastoma Multiforme (brain cancer). He was born February 28, 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Courtney J. Hoskins and Dorothy M. Beachler.
Bruce attended Baldwin High School in Pittsburgh, before moving on to Penn State University, where he graduated with Bachelor's degree in Horticulture. He moved to Oregon in 1970, and lived there since. Bruce married Karen L. Hoskins (Geier) September 17, 1983 in Gresham, Oregon.
Bruce worked as a Nurseryman until his retirement in 2019. He was very proud of the plants he grew that are seen throughout Oregon. He would often say, "I have plants there," when driving by a place he'd sold plants to.
Bruce was a Boy Scout leader, soccer coach, former pilot, avid hiker and outdoorsman. He deeply loved his family and fought hard and bravely when diagnosed with cancer.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Tyler Hoskins of Corvallis, Ore., and Andrew Hoskins of Canby; daughter, Kelsey Hoskins of Canby; daughter-in-law, Brittany Hoskins, of Corvallis; brother, Gene Hoskins of Arizona; and sister, Alice Takase of Texas.
A private Celebration of Life service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to any brain cancer research organization.
