Richard Jerome Carroll
Richard Jerome Carroll passed away April 19, 2020 at Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center in Oregon City.
He was born December 3, 1928 in St. Edward, Nebraska, and was the son of Frank and Bessie (Brown) Carroll. Richard moved with his family to Canby in 1943.
He graduated from Canby Union High School in 1947 and was soon employed at the shingle mill in New Era. He also worked at Publisher's Paper Company in West Linn and Gerber Legendary Blades in Tigard. Richard spent most of his career as a tool and die maker with Omark Industries in Milwaukie, retiring in 1990 after 35 years the company.
He was married to Virginia Schoen on July 3, 1948, and lived their married life in the Canby community. He enjoyed their camping trips around Oregon, and was passionate about the game of golf, was an avid card player, and enjoyed playing bingo.
Richard is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff (Judy) Carroll, Walla Walla, WA, and Shawn (Karen) Carroll, Canby; grandchildren Mike Carroll, Boise, ID; Katie Carroll, LaGrande; Angela (Todd) Koehler, Canby; and Ashley (Kyle) Van Cleave, The Dalles. Great- grandchildren, Ellie and Aubrie Koehler, and Lillian and Erik Van Cleave; a sister, Joyce Prue, and many other nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death in 2006 by his wife of 58 years, and brother, Marvin Carroll.
A private graveside service will be held May 1, 2020, with interment at Zion Memorial Park, Canby. A Memorial Service will be held in the future. Contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, PO Box 730, Canby, OR 97013.
