Leonard Jarleth 'Pete' Kelley Jr.
Leonard Jarleth "Pete" Kelley Jr. passed away April 16th, 2020. He was 77. Born March 28th, 1943 in Oak Park, Ill. To Leonard J. Kelley and Eloise Eva (Tracey) Kelley, Pete was the oldest of seven brothers. Pete grew up in Chicago, graduating from Austin High School and Southern Illinois University. He married Sherry (Balow) Kelley in 1964 and together they had three sons and one daughter. The family moved to Canby, Oregon in 1974 where Pete ran Kelley Bros. Realty and was a key member of the community until his passing.
Beyond business, Pete helped co-found Canby Kids in 1975 to promote, organize, and support youth sports in the area, and the organization still operates today. Pete also served in a variety of civic and public capacities, including sponsoring and coaching countless youth teams both in Chicago and Canby, time with the American Legion and the Canby Fire board.
He found his life partner, Annie Chesser, and spent the rest of his life with her. Nothing gave Pete more pride and satisfaction than his family. He is survived by Annie; his six brothers and their families; his daughter Jenne Parker and her husband Steve; sons LJ, David and Matt and their spouses Jodie, Betsy and Beth; as well as his nine grandchildren, Corinne, Noah, Dakota, Bailey, Kaden, Rian, Shane, Ian, and Claire.
