Mary Elizabeth McDaniel-Andersen died unexpectedly on April 25th, 2020 at the age of 66.
Mary was born to John and Agnes (nee Unrein) McDaniel in Portland, Oregon in 1953. She is survived by her husband, Vincent Andersen; her son John Paul McDaniel and his wife Caralyn and grandchildren Emma, Ben and Betsy; her sisters Loreen Ann McDaniel and Linda Frances (nee McDaniel) Miller and her brother Clay Dean McDaniel. She is predeceased by her parents; brothers John "Butch" McDaniel, Robert Lee McDaniel, Patrick Michael McDaniel, David Marshall McDaniel and sister Lynette Louise (nee McDaniel) Muth and her much loved Bull Terrier "Viggo".
She worked many years in the retail jewelry industry before retiring to her home in Canby, Oregon. She and husband Vincent were partners in life for forty three wonderful years. On August 25th, 1972 she welcomed the greatest joy of her life, son John, into the world. Mary was a devoted, proud and adoring mother.
She was very active in animal rescue and was considered an expert on canine health and behavioral issues. She was an avid and masterful gardener. She was vibrant and active - enjoying travelling, hiking, bicycling, flying, shooting and fishing throughout Oregon. She attended the Pacific Northwest College of Art and was a gifted and accomplished painter. She taught herself to sew and created many original designs including aprons, hats and full costumes that are treasured by those lucky enough to have received them over the years. She was probably best known for her incredible generosity. If you needed her, she would be there for you. She will be deeply, deeply missed by her many friends, her beloved family, and all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Mary's honor to the Oregon Humane Society or the Animal Rescue Charity of your choice.
