SUBMITTED PHOTO - Mary Ann (Bellus) CelleyMary Ann (Bellus) Celley passed away in Beaverton, Oregon on May 28, 2021, following a short illness. She was 87 years old. As a sister, wife, mother and grandmother, she served her family and friends throughout her life. Most significantly as the wife of Charles "Ken" Celley for more than fifty years, before his death in 2007.

Mary Ann was born on April 28, 1934 near Marshalltown, Iowa, and spent her childhood on the family farm. Some of Mary Ann's fondest memories were of time spent with her older brothers Charles and Rich, her sister June, her younger brother Ben, and an array of cousins and friends.

When she attended Vennard College in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Mary Ann earned a bachelor's degree in education and developed her love of music. She sang and toured with a number of college performing groups. While there, she met and married Ken Celley.

Following their marriage in 1956, and a short stint back on the Celley farm in North Dakota, Mary Ann and Ken moved to Oregon where they lived for the rest of their lives. She taught elementary students for several years before the arrival of their three children; Scott, Sandra and Stephanie. She was well-known for her excellent skills as a cook, pie baker, gardener and seamstress.

In her retirement years, Mary Ann, along with her husband and long-time friends, enjoyed a number of guided tours to the United Kingdom. These trips allowed her to cultivate her interest in fine china, handicrafts, and ornate gardens.

Mary Ann's death follows the passing of her elder brother Charles several years ago, and over the past year, the death of her brothers Rich and Ben. She is survived by her sister June, her children Scott Celley and his wife Dr. Pamela Hall, Sandra (Celley) Friedman and her husband Daniel, and Stephanie (Celley) Tornblad and her husband John, as well as her grandchildren; Madeline (Celley) Phipps, and her husband Dr. Kyle Phipps, Caroline Celley, MacKenzie and Katherine Friedman, and McKenna and Luke Tornblad.

She will be remembered at a family graveside service at Canby's Zion Memorial Cemetery at 10:30am on Saturday, June 19.
