Harry Paul Preuitt
Harry Paul Preuitt passed away on February 17, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family after battling cancer.
Born in Portland, Oregon to K Clyde Preuitt and Hazel Eilers Preuitt, named after his grandfather Harry Eilers. Harry was seven years old when his father passed away. He attended All Saints, Saint Andrews, Saint Lukes graduating in 1957, and Sierra Catholic High in 1961.
In 1955 his mother purchased a farm in Aurora, Oregon. Harry and his mother raised strawberries and beans. Having a permit, he drove the farm truck to the cannery with his mother. The two of them had long days and late nights on farm.
Harry went to General Motors Training Center in 1961, then started work at Wallace Buick as an engine mechanic. His father, K Preuitt was a Service Manager at Wallace Buick before he passed away in 1951. Harry later transferred to Howard Cooper as a diesel mechanic and worked there until it closed. Harry went onto starting his own company, H.P. Fuel Systems, repairing fuel pumps. He was known as a master mechanic.
He was also a master at doing carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and woodworking. Harry enjoyed sharing his knowledge by helping others with the skills he had mastered, so they too could learn how to do things right. In 1975, Harry and Jackie purchased an unfinished home that he finished and restored. In 1986 Hazel and her Buick came to live with Harry and family until she passed away in December of 1990.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline "Jackie" Wright of 57 years and their three children; Sherri and Robert Killgore, John and Adelle Preuitt, and Jason and Laura Preuitt; grandchildren Ryan and Kristin Killgore, Samantha Killgore, Zachary Killgore, Ramsey Preuitt, Amanda Preuitt, Joanna Preuitt, Addie Preuitt, and Kay Preuitt; great-grandchildren Henry, Haylee, and Katie Jo Killgore; siblings, Delores Crawford and Gerald Preuitt; and four sister-in-laws, Shirley Leiper, Carol Wiley, Debbie Wright, and Sharon Wright.
His family was his pride and enjoy, along with his 1961 Buick Skylark. The last 10 years Harry spent countless hours restoring the Skylark. The Buick represented family and the love of his life, Jackie. They graduated from high school in 1961.
