Wallace Henry Howard
Wallace "Wally" Howard, 85, passed away on Jan. 5, 2018.
He had worked for the State of Oregon Highway Department for more than 20 years and then worked for the City of Gold Beach, operating the sewer plant for 25 years before "retiring."
After "retiring," he and his wife of 67 years, Fosteen, park hosted from Brookings to Astoria and last hosted in Prineville for Ochoco Reservoir County Park. He loved hosting and meeting people from all over the world, and he made wonderful friends. He and Fosteen received the Volunteer Park Host of the Year award for Oregon County Parks in 2011.
Wally is survived by his wife, Fosteen; son, Gary (Linda); two daughters, Deborah Johnson and Mary Ireland (Duane); 10 grandchildren; and 15 and ¾ great-grandchildren.
A family gathering will take place in the spring.
