Neomia Sweet, 80, of Prineville, passed away May 6, 2019, in Newberg. Neomia was born to the late Floyd and Florence Reedze on May 15, 1938, in Espanola, New Mexico.
A Memorial Service will be held June 8 at 11 a.m. at the Prineville Presbyterian Church.
She graduated from Crook County High School in 1956 and completed some coursework in nursing at Central Oregon Community College.
Neomia married the late Donald Sweet Nov. 10, 1956, and they lived most of their lives in Prineville before Neomia relocated to Newberg in 2017.
Neomia is survived by four children, Russ Sweet and wife, Elaine, Tami Hart, Molly McWilliams and husband, John, Mike Sweet and wife, Bethe; sister, Carolyn Stanley; sister-in-law, Lillian Reedze; and sister- and brother-in-law, Charles and Arlene Deitz; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Neomia was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son, Charley; brother, Frank; and sister-in-law, Goldie.
Neomia was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading, music, hiking and spending time with her family. Her favorite places were Smith Rock and The Grasslands.
Instead of flowers, the family is asking that you donate to her favorite charities: the Community Garden at the Prineville Presbyterian Church or the Crook County Library.
