Wilma 'Billie' Mae Ream
Wilma was born Jan. 31, 1930, to Thomas and Nellie (Dawson) Hurt in Jefferson City, Missouri. She died June 12, 2019, in Redmond. She passed peacefully surrounded by family.
She was the second of seven children. Her siblings' first memory of her was when a neighbor boy got smart with her and she hit him in the mouth with her lunch box. She moved from Missouri to Washington State as a child then on to Prineville.
On Nov. 13, 1948, she married Archie Ream Jr. As a newly married couple, they lived at Maury Guard Station for a summer. Archie was on the crew and Wilma cooked for them. The crew taught her to play poker and was soon sorry they did as she took every dime they had. Later in life, she would use that skill to teach her grandsons how to count playing Black Jack. They had two children, Garry and Barbara. Her home was filled with laughter and good food.
She loved reading, puttering in her flower beds, caring for her extended family, and spoiling her dog, Meggie.
Her family would like to thank the wonderful Hari Homestead. They took care of Wilma for her last two years. The love and caring for her and all of us was amazing. A special thank you to Lydia.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Pennington; son-in-law, Daren; and son, Garry Ream. She is also survived by two siblings, sister, Imogene, and brother, Bradley. She had four grandchildren, Garry's daughters, Kimberly and Natalie, and Barbara's sons, Michael and Marcus; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Archie Ream Jr.; parents; and siblings, Keith, Shirley, Wanda and Clifford.
The family will have a private celebration at a later date.
