Barbara Barlow Donham passed away June 10, 2022, at Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Oregon. Her pastor and daughter were holding Barbara's hands and praying, and Barbara passed right after the pastor said amen. What a divine appointment! Barbara was born in a home her father built on the family homestead in Yank Gulch outside of Talent, Oregon. She was the daughter of Olen and Esther Barlow. Barbara graduated from Phoenix High School in 1950. She attended Southern Oregon College and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. Barbara taught in California, Washington, and Oregon. She was a kind and caring first grade teacher. Barbara loved teaching children to read, sing songs and to foster their artistic talents with great art projects. Barbara taught first grade at Ochoco Elementary in room 1 for over 20 years. She enjoyed a special trip with several Ochoco Elementary teacher friends to Paris. Barbara said that she felt very at home in Paris. Barbara also enjoyed several cruises, trips to New England, Texas and Washington D.C. Barbara loved the desert, and enjoyed several trips with her brothers and her daughter to Arizona. Family was very important to Barbara. She loved to show her love to family by preparing meals for her family to enjoy. Her apple pies were a highlight of any family event! Among her hobbies were painting, gardening, and writing. She was an active member of Phoenix Presbyterian Church. Barbara's gentle soul and resilient spirit were an endearing part of her personality.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Barlow and sister-in-law Diane Barlow. Barbara is survived by her brother, David Barlow, of Medford. Barbara is also survived by her son, Kevin (Christy) Donham of Prineville; daughter, Kari Donham of Medford; and granddaughter, Bailey Donham. A celebration of life will be held on September 8. Donations may be made in her name to the Medford Gospel Mission.
