March 13, 1933 ~ August 11, 2022. Daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, aunt, grandma and great grandma Dale Comini graced our lives

CENTRAL OREGONIAN - Dale CominiDaughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, aunt, grandma and great grandma, Dale Comini graced our lives being adored by her family. Her subtle but lasting life lessons guided us, taught us, nurtured us, as she loved us fiercely. She was each of our biggest advocate and fan, and she was our rock. She lives forever with us every day.

Dale was born in Pendleton, Oregon, on March 13, 1933, to Verna Byrnes Walsh and Paul W. Walsh. She grew up in The Dalles, where she met and married her sweetheart, Ted Comini, having three children. This year marks their 70th year of marriage, a feat not many can claim.

Ted's job with Oregon Department of Forestry took them to Prineville, where she continued her career as a hairdresser, opening her second shop there, La Petite Beauty Salon, promising to "Curl Up and Dye for You." She "bent hair" for 50 years in Prineville, retiring and closing her shop at 82 years of age.

A lover of purple, "wild things," fancy earrings, scrumptious desserts, her yard and garden, she never met a flower she didn't like. Cannon Beach, on the Oregon Coast, was her favorite getaway — always in an ocean front and nearest Haystack Rock.

Growing the community and making it a better place was a life pleasure for her. She worked tirelessly for the Prineville Soroptimists, decades in leadership roles with great focus on the Neat Repeat and creation of the Senior Center.

Fighter, warrior, survivor and fighter again, Dale passed from complications of cancer on August 11, 2022, family lovingly at her side through her last few days. An emptiness will always be in our heart.

Dale is survived by her husband, Ted Comini, of 70 years; her three children, Deb Comini (Woody) of Salem, Lenna Comini (Nike) of Portland and Jeff Comini (Karen) of Prineville; three incredible grandchildren, Melissa Pelton (Greg) of Salem, Jared Comini (Pam) of Orofino, Idaho and Travis Comini (Lynnel) of Redmond; seven great-grandchildren, which were the apple of her eye, Aiden and Mallory (Salem), Adley and Landon (Orofino) and RaeLynn, Reese and Cohen (Redmond); and nine nieces and nephews, always just a text away.

Dale's quick wit and ability to make most everyone laugh was one of her trademarks. She was loved by so many. There will be a Celebration of Life for her at the Crook County Library in Prineville, Saturday, September 24, at 2 p.m. Wear purple and big earrings!

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Prineville Senior Center in Dale's memory.
