Kip Macom

Kip Patrick Macom, age 68, passed away February 27 at his home in West Linn after a valiant battle with prostate cancer. Born the youngest of three strong brothers in Lake Oswego on March 18, 1950 to Delmer "Red" and Martha Macom, he grew up tough and he grew up quickly.  His first job was as an usher at the Lake Theater in Lake Oswego. Kip's life was forever changed in eighth grade when he met the girl who would be his forever love at the Lake Oswego Junior High.  In 1967 he followed Molly to West Linn and graduated from West Linn High School in 1968.  The two were married soon after on November 30, 1968 and soon began their family.  Kip had many friends throughout those years – the Wilson gang as they called themselves. Several were close friends to the end. A proud American Kip enlisted in the Army National Guard and served his country until 1976.  He worked as an X-Ray technician, land surveyor, many facets of the automobile industry then ultimately coming back to work side-by-side with his love Molly as "Director of First Impressions" at Westlake Properties.  Kip and Molly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary November 30, 2018. A Packer Backer for life, Kip would often be seen sporting his gear, walking the Bolton neighborhood with his cherished companion Pierre leading the way.  Family was always important to Kip, his daily routine usually included attending some activity with his children or grandchildren. Hobbies included bowling, online poker, walking with Pierre and the Buck Street Tavern. Kip is survived by his wife, Molly Macom, three children: Cynthia (Jim) Gonzales; Christopher Macom and Thurston (Brittnay) Macom; seven grandchildren: Taylor (TJ) Macom Hilton, Hanna and Emma Hilton; Caroline, Camille and Carlie Macom; and Holden Macom and of course, his buddy Pierre. All are welcome at his open house style Celebration of Life to be held from 2 to 5 p.m. March 17 at Oregon City Golf Club, 20124 South Beavercreek Road, Oregon City.
