Carol Sempsrott Prell
January 24, 1922 to April 17, 2019
Carol Sempsrott Prell passed away peacefully on April 17, 2019 in her Lake Oswego home with her son Drew by her side. From her birth in Covington Kentucky, January 24, 1922 to her death on Tuesday she nourished people around her with love, humor and a "can do" attitude. She was married to John W. Prell on May 17, 1941 and lived in Kentucky, then Cincinnati, Ohio before moving to San Diego, California in 1971. After her husband passed in 1996, Carol moved to Lake Oswego, Ore. where she lived in her beloved home, entertaining, gardening and feeding the hummingbirds. Attending IBM Business School in 1940, Carol had a keen knack for accounting and bookkeeping, skills which also manifested in her intense love for bridge, which she played for years. She was active with the Lake Oswego Community Center bridge group where she organized and won many matches alongside her partners and friends. She passed on her love of books and reading to students as she worked in the Anderson High School library from 1962 - 1970. She was well known as the "Ticket Lady" at the Lake Twin Cinema, now Lake Theater and Cafe owned by son Drew. While there she greeted and sold movie tickets at the front door for 15 years. Many can testify that Carol had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way throughout her life. She is survived by her three sons, Drew Prell (Candace Kramer), Jan Prell (Kum Sun), Neal Prell; and her grandchildren, John Prell, Peter Kramer and Cara Schaller; three great-grandchildren Skye and Heather Prell and Owen Schaller. The Prell family would like to extend our thanks to Carol's neighbors for their attentiveness and loving care over the years. The family will have a private funeral. Carols favorite saying was, "I'm not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday, and I am happy today."
