Eileen Kallberg was born in Foster County, North Dakota, one of Melinda and Thorvel Thompson's ten children.

She graduated from Valley City Teachers College in 1941, and began teaching in a one-room school for all eight grades.

She met and married Floyd Kallberg in 1942, and after the war moved to Portland, Or.

She taught for 33 years, mostly second grade at Gilbert Primary in the David Douglas School District.

She loved children and children's books. She was an accomplished gardener, baker, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Her beloved husband, Floyd, died in 1989.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Curt) Baysinger; son Curt Kallberg; grandchildren Mark, Susan, Sara, Dustin and Lauren; great-grandchildren Ziggy, Lily, Molly and Oliver; and sisters Rachel Humphrey and Jeanne Knutson.

A private interment has been held at Willamette National Cemetary.

Remembrances may be made to Legacy Hopewell House Hospice or your local children's library.
