Linda Pope Eskildsen
Linda Pope Eskildsen passed away peacefully on February 20, 2021. She was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon, on January 5, 1937, to Fred and Dorothy Pope, longtime cattle ranchers in Fort Klamath, Oregon. Linda had one sibling, Steve, who passed away earlier. She was a descendant of Oregon pioneers.
Linda attended the University of Oregon where she met John Eskildsen during her freshman year in 1955. She was an active member of her sorority, Pi Beta Phi. After John graduated from the University in 1958, they were married in June and were very happily married for 62 years. As a U of 0 alum, she cheered on the Oregon Ducks at games in Eugene and at several bowl games.
Over the years, Linda and John traveled the world extensively, both on land and at sea, where they made many friends and had wonderful adventures together.
Linda was a prolific reader and always had a stack of books by her side. She was delighted with her visiting hummingbirds and made sure the hummingbird feeder was always full. She certainly loved the challenge of a good puzzle and doing her needlepoint. She was a colorful storyteller in the family and always had a worldly fact in her back pocket. She definitely brought laughter and joy to every family gathering.
Linda is survived by her husband, John; two daughters, Sue Eskildsen and Lisa Eskildsen Oliva; and three beloved granddaughters, Kathryn living in London and married to Harry Rollason, Meghan living in Philadelphia, and Sarah living in Portland. Linda was a devoted grandmother who loved the time she spent with her three granddaughters. She cared for them as babies and toddlers and will always be watching over them.
The family will have a private service. In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to SMART Reading in Portland, Oregon.
