Steve Leitz, who is Gladstone franchisee, honored at annual awards ceremony in Boston

Dunkin' Brands Group Inc., the parent company of Gladstone Baskin-Robbins owner Steve Leitz, named Leitz its 2019 Baskin-Robbins Philanthropist of the Year at its recent awards ceremony at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston.

LietzEach year, the award is given to a franchisee who generously supports his or her local communities.

"Steve demonstrates his commitment to the communities he serves through his role as the president of the local Rotary Club chapter and his support of countless nonprofits, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Dougy Center for Grieving Children," said Karen Raskopf, Dunkin' Brands' chief communications and sustainability officer, who presented the award.

"Steve frequently organizes fundraising events for nonprofit organiztions that serve the local community," she said. "He also encourages his store team members to nominate their favorite groups for fundraisers so that they are also involved in making a difference in their communities."

In addition, Leitz hosts Red Cross blood drives in the parking lot of his two locations, and in 2018 he sponsored 10 Shop with a Cop fundraisers, inviting police officers to scoop ice cream in his stores.

"I'm pleased to be named Baskin-Robbins Philanthropist of the Year," Leitz said. "This is a tremendous honor for me and everyone on my team. They're the ones who make it possible for our stores to do what we do. Nothing would be accomplished without their exceptional work."
